3 life lessons I learnt in 2022

Every year teaches me one or two lessons that settles with me forever. But this year 2022 particularly is the most important year in my life. I feel like I can aptly say BEFORE 2021 AND AFTER 2021. Because after 2021 december I felt like I must do something that can bring positive changes in my life.
One thing that I understood is that life will teach you some lessons in a peculiar way such that you cannot forget those lessons.

Those lessons may be taught to you with a pat in your back or with a strong blow on your head. I was given my most needed as well as beautiful lessons with strong blow on my head with brick.

Now, early morning , I was thinking about the most valuable lessons that I have learnt this year and I came up with the following list:

1. Rewire your thinking.

I was always bombarded by negative thoughts. Whatever I do, negativity pops out of my head about the work I was supposed to do. And this happened even before I start doing that work. I struggled hard to overcome this. But somehow I managed to rewire my thinking.

How?

What I found from reading and analysing hundreds of articles is that You cannot control your negative thoughts.

Then what can you do?!!!

You can deliberately increase your count of positive thoughts.

What does it mean?

No matter what you do negative thoughts and doubts will come. But you can change it by CONCIOUSLY rewiring your thinking with positivity. Keep thinking about the outcome of the work you do with positive thinking.

Always think in a positive way and double this whenever negativity appears inside your mind.

2. Set self discipline as your top priority.

Sometimes I felt like postponing my work to the next day. But what really happened is I was not able to deliver my work on time and that made me feel a loser.

Procrastination is the BAD habit and you must overcome it at whatever cost.

How?

I rigorously started to implement self discipline in my work. It does not matter if it is in my job or in my personal life. I decided that Whatever needs to be done at the moment must be done right at that moment.

DO THE WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE EVEN IF YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP! That’s it.

3. Focus on the process.

I use to think and WORRY a lot about the outcome of the work even before starting it which in turn caused a lot of anxiety.

I used to think that everything must be done perfectly without any flaw forgetting the unavoidable fact that we all humans and we tend to commit one or two mistakes. Then after a lot of failures and rejections I overcame this.

How?

Two things shaped my thoughts -

1. Stoic Mentality
2. Mamba Mentality

When you read this it might be a little surprise for you as both these are opposite to each other and that’s what attracted me like in magnet.

I read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius , the roman emperor. This book introduced me to the stoic world and i started to read Ryan Holiday articles everyday. I subscribed to his newsletter which taught me about stoicism . I started to implement in my life. I started to accept the flaws in humans but at the same time I started to be strict with myself.

Next I heard a podcast about Kobe Bryant’s mamba mentality . I learnt about his INSANE WORK ETHIC and it really really really stroke me. He is really an inspiration.

Kobe Bryant once said:" if you want to be a better player, you have to prepare, prepare, and prepare some more."

This makes me to do my job in a more effective way. I am not saying that I have changed completely. I am learning to strive hard everyday. Whenever I feel like giving up I think about Kobe and arcus Aurelius. Both of them dust me up and pushes me to do my work.

If you want to be successful put insane work ethic each and every day.

What I have decided this year, particularly in the past few days is that I must follow these three things bo matter in what situation my life is.

1. Thinking.
2. Self Discipline.
3. Love the process.
